Cycling in Brisbane
Brisbane is a great city for cycling, with plenty of dedicated bike paths and lanes to make getting around on two wheels easy and enjoyable. The city has a growing network of off-road cycleways, including the Bicentennial Bikeway, which runs along the river from New Farm to Toowong; the Kedron Brook Bikeway, which connects Herston to Nundah; and the Centenary Bikeway, which links Jindalee to Toowong.
There are also on-road bike lanes on many major streets, including Adelaide Street, Ann Street, Charlotte Street and Elizabeth Street.
If you're new to Brisbane or just getting back into cycling after a break, there are plenty of resources available to help you get started. Brisbane City Council's website has maps and information on all of the city's bikeways, as well as tips on planning your route, choosing the right bike and gear, and staying safe while riding. Cycling Queensland also offers courses in basic road skills and traffic safety for cyclists of all levels.
Whether you're commuting to work or school, out for a leisurely ride on the weekend or training for a big event like Bridge to Brisbane Day, cycling is a great way to get around Brisbane.
